Danse Macabre

This was a piece I made almost 2 years ago, it was supposed to be for a pokemon fanzine, I made it and was not gonna show it until the fanzine was published, but, its been almost 2 years, I had even forgotten about this piece until I stumbled upon it the other day while looking around my old files and said "you know what, screw this, lets post this up"

The idea for this fanzine was to draw a group of pokemon who shared something in common, like the same ecosystem or background, in this case I choose bony pokemons, because you know how much I love my skulls and bones, now, how do you know this piece is over 2 years old? because the marowak is a regular one, by the time alolan marowak was first released this was already done.

Since the idea was to make the "skulls and bones" them stick out louder, I colored the bones a bright white and the rest in very dark and desaturated tones, and chose bright red for all the eyes to make it look creepier, just the way I like it.

The whole piece is called "danse macabre" in honor of the medieval art of the same name, a type of painting that pictured death summoning the dead to dance all together, regardless of their condition in life, this was a metaphor to show people that, no matter who you are, we are all equal to death.
