This drawing will may not mean anything for all of you who don't live in Mexico, but maybe if you are Mexican this will touch some sensitive fibbers.

One of the most memorable things from my childhood, and probably the childhood of many others here in Mexico, has been the music of Francisco Gavilondo Soler, known as Cri Cri, the singing Cricket, and between all the songs I used to listen, there are 2 that has been specially significant for me, which are "Che Araña" and "La Muñeca Fea", being the first a song about a tango-dancing spider and the second about an old, broken and forgotten doll

For some time, the idea of making those characters in my own style has been wandering my mind, and finally I did them

This is merely a personal tribute to some of the most happy things in my childhood, but I wanted to share them with you to know what you think about it

I'll put the songs in spanish with lyrics in English of both songs for those who dont know them:

Che Araña [link]

To the bottom of the dilapidated barrel
That lights a beam of the Sun,
The spider in his threads dances tango
With the chords of the bandoneón.

Don cat imitates the instrument
Stretching a paper lantern
And his tail wags with feeling
Taking the pace of the dance that one.

Che Araña
It dances with skill
It is necessary to count
Three little steps
dragging them
ahead and for behind.

Between the worm-eaten splinters
That stay of the old barrel
The clientele appears vain
And on tiptoe it penetrates in him.

Brilliant boring cockroaches,
Plant louses fatigued of stinging,
More other re-licked vermins
That meet to pass the night

La Muñeca Fea [link]

Hidden by the corners,
Fearful of that someone sees her,
He was chatting with the mice
The poor ugly doll.
A little arm already broke ,
His sweet little face is full of soot
And on having felt forgotten it cried
tears of sawdust.

Little doll,
He said the mouse ,
do not cry dummy
You do not have reason.
Your friends
They are not those of the world
Because they forgot you
In this corner.
We are not like that.

The broom and the collector love you,
The the duster and the shaker love you,
The spider and the old suitcase love you
Also I love you
And I love you happily.
